Free examination entitlement
NHS Exemptions
If you fall into any of these categories, eye examinations are provided free of charge and the NHS may make a contribution towards the cost of any neccessary spectacles.
Under 16 or under 19 and in full-time education
Aged 60 or over
You or your partner recieve;
income support
income-based job seekers' allowance
working families tax credit
disabled person's tax credit
you or your partner has an HC2 Certificate - limited help within an HC3
Certificate
Pension credit
You are registered blind or partially sighted
You suffer from Glaucoma or Diabetes
You are over 40 and the parent/brother/siter/child of a person with glaucoma
You have been prescribed complex lenses under the NHS voucher scheme
You will be asked to bring proof of entitlement when you attend for your
eye examination
