Shapes and styles

It is a little understood truism that there's no such thing as the wrong shaped face for glasses, only the wrong shaped glasses for your face! So which frame shape should you choose and what colour is best for you?

Generally, makeover artists categorise faces into seven basic shapes and each shape has certain frame styles that best suit it.

The good news is that, like never before, the current range of spectacle designs allows us to exactly match frame shapes with facial characteristics, and the vast array of colours ensures the perfect complement for all skin tones. Indeed, never have spectacles been so fashionable!

However, as in all things in life, rules apply and we would be delighted to demonstrate how, with a subtle change of shape or size, a frame can be used to enhance a facial feature.

For example, high cheekbones can be emphasised by slightly upswept "cats eyes" frame styles, whereas frames with lower bridges are known to shorten noses and heart shaped faces are brought to life in shallow oval frames!

And then there's the colour ... but that's a whole new story. Indeed, correct frame choice can dramatically improve your appearance overnight. It is not a decision to be taken lightly and so, rather than leave it to chance, we recommend that you ask the opinion of our experienced staff. After all, we are here to help and we do this every day so have an instinctive eye as to what looks right and wrong.
